what homeowners think of the turf shed

Augusta Zoysia is your yard’s ticket to the high life. With an ultra-fine leaf and dense growth, it delivers that luxury, manicured look without turning lawn care into a second job. Its slower growth rate means less mowing than faster-growing grasses, so you get golf-course glam without spending every weekend pushing the mower.

It handles both sun and partial shade comfortably, making it a versatile option for a range of backyards. The dark green, fine blades create a premium finish that can be kept longer for a soft, lush feel or cut shorter for a tighter, more refined look depending on your style. Augusta brings that “looks fancy but still easy to live with” energy, giving you a lawn that stays neat, polished, and ready for whatever backyard life throws at it.

If you want a lawn that looks high-end but still lets you actually enjoy your weekends, Augusta Zoysia fits the bill nicely.

Augusta will: take selfies in his fancy car, and come up with a reason to show them off to all the ladies at a party.

Augusta won’t: know the location of Kmart at the mall.

augusta Zoysia FAQs

  • Augusta Zoysia Grass is one of the most shade-tolerant Zoysia turf varieties available in Australia. It thrives with as little as 2 to 3 hours of direct sunlight per day, making it perfect for partially shaded backyards, courtyards, or areas near fences and trees. If you’ve got spots in your yard that other grasses struggle in, Augusta will likely handle them with ease.

  • Thanks to its slow vertical growth, Augusta Zoysia is considered a low-maintenance mowing option. During the warmer months, aim to mow every 2 weeks to keep your lawn tidy and avoid scalping. In cooler months, mowing every 4 to 6 weeks is usually enough. For best results, maintain a height between 20mm and 30mm, although you can leave it a bit longer—up to 50mm—if you prefer a plush, thick look.

  • Most established lawns need about 25–30mm of water per week to stay healthy. That includes rainfall plus irrigation. In hot weather or sandy soils, you may need closer to 35–40mm.

  • Augusta Zoysia requires less fertiliser than most other grass types, thanks to its efficient growth pattern. We recommend applying a slow-release fertiliser twice a year—once in early summer and again in early autumn. This light feeding schedule keeps your turf thick, green, and healthy without promoting excessive growth or thatch.

  • Augusta Zoysia Grass does produce a moderate amount of thatch, which is normal for fine-leaf Zoysia varieties. To keep your lawn healthy, plan a light lawn renovation or dethatching once a year—ideally in early spring. This keeps the soil breathing, encourages strong root development, and removes any soft sponginess underfoot.
