Named after one of the best golf courses in the world, Augusta Zoysia is now available for homeowners wanting the same effect. And it is 100% responsible for turning everyday Aussies into lawn fanatics!
Don’t be fooled by its street appeal, because Augusta Zoysia only requires half the mowing of other turf varieties, and can be mowed low enough for a home putting green if that’s your style.
Augusta Zoysia needs 4 – 5 hours of sun each day and its super fine leaf gives it a beautiful and luxurious look and feel. A weekly watering, fortnightly mow and twice-yearly pesticide and herbicide treatment, will ensure it remains ‘really, really, ridiculously good-looking!’
It is a slower grower, so it will do better in low wear areas, where the kids and dogs aren’t running or riding over it.
FAQs about augusta zoysia Grass?
-
At least 2 - 3 hours of direct sunlight each day.
-
Mow your Augusta Zoysia every 2 weeks in warmer months, and up to 6 weeks in colder months. Consistency is key to avoid scalping and damaging the grass. The ideal length is between 20 and 30mm, but can be as long as 50mm if you desire a longer look.
-
Augusta Zoysia is incredibly drought resistant, and doesn’t need much watering. The equivalent of about 2cm per week should do it (which the weather might do for you anyway). Keep an eye out on dried out or curled leaf blades.
-
Augusta requires significantly less fertilising that other turf varieties. We recommend twice-yearly during summer and autumn, with a slow-release fertiliser.

Augusta Zoysia Grass: The Quiet Champion of Aussie Greens
Ever heard of Augusta Zoysia? It’s like the dark horse of the turf world, not always the first name off the tongue but definitely one that deserves a shoutout from the rooftops. It’s for those who appreciate the finer things in life but don’t want to spend every weekend with a mower in hand. Grab a bevvy, and let’s explore the lush life of Augusta Zoysia.
Why Augusta Zoysia is a Beaut Choice
Drought Tough: Augusta Zoysia doesn’t just survive in our Aussie heat; it thrives. It’s like it’s wearing its own little sunhat, making it a top pick for gardens across Queensland.
Slow and Steady: If you’re not keen on weekly lawn mowing marathons, you’re going to love Augusta. It grows at a leisurely pace, meaning you can spend more time admiring your lawn than trimming it.
Soft on Your Feet: Fancy a stroll across your lawn that feels like walking on a cloud? Augusta’s got you covered with its soft, fine texture.
Shade and Sun Lover: Whether your garden is sun-drenched or shaded, Augusta Zoysia doesn’t mind. It’s versatile, thriving just about anywhere you plant it.
Caring for Your Augusta Zoysia
Watering Know-How: Augusta’s not a big drinker, but when it’s thirsty, make sure it gets a good gulp. It’s all about deep, infrequent watering to encourage those roots to dive deep.
Feeding Time: A bit of grub in the form of slow-release fertiliser come spring and autumn will have your Augusta looking lush and green all year round.
Mowing Lowdown: Thanks to its laid-back growth habit, you’ll be spending less time behind the mower and more time doing, well, anything else.
A Little TLC: A bit of aeration and dethatching every now and then will keep your Augusta turf in tip-top shape, letting it breathe and soak up nutrients.
Right on For:
Lazy Sunday aficionados who’d rather not spend their downtime mowing.
Folks with gardens that get a mix of sun and shade and want a lawn that looks good in both.
Anyone looking to cut down on their water bill without sacrificing a green, inviting lawn.
Maybe Not the Go For:
If you’re all about that rapid growth and the smell of freshly cut grass every weekend, Augusta’s slow pace might not cut it for you.
Families wanting to utilise their yards for playgrounds or dog parks, uh-oh.
